On Sunday May 22nd, 2016 the Local Wild Food Challenge competition will take place in the small and lovely village of Verduno, in the heart of the Langhe hills.
The event is a culinary competition in which participants are required to forage, hunt, gather, farm and trade ingredients to be used in the dish they will submit for the Challenge.
The idea comes from Bill Manson, a chef from New Zealand, who decided to hold a community-based event to honor and celebrate the skills of the local people and the environment. Being held for the first time in Italy, the Local Wild Food Challenge is open to everyone: home cooks, restaurateurs, fishermen, caterers, hunter-gatherers, chefs and children.
To take part in the challenge is free of chargers. The winner will get a free trip to Finland for two people for the next Local Wild Food Challenge event.

The program will offer: a Local Wild Market, various workshops on local funky natural wines, fermentation and wild herbs foraging with students of the University of Gastronomic Sciences, as well as a workshop for children to learn about wild veggies.
The event will also offer a Wild Lunch, music, a live concert, the Wild Party and a big final bonfire.
