To mark its tenth anniversary, the University of Gastronomic Sciences will be opening its doors for a week of celebrations from June 13 to 19: to everyone who works and studies at it and to anyone who wants to find out more about it.
A host of initiatives have been planned: from visits by major names of Italian and international culture, to talks by lecturers, tastings, a farmers’ market, music, shows for children, films, and chances to meet with everyone involved at Pollenzo.
The party will get under way on the evening of Friday June 13 with an inauguration ceremony in the courtyard of the Agenzia complex to introduce all the participants.
On the Saturday a large-scale “eat-in” reserved for the Pollenzo community, students and alumni, collaborators and international delegates of Slow Food will wind through the village streets.
On the Sunday an all-day farmers’ and producers’ markets will feature music, artists and workshops for children. In the course of the day it will also be possible to find out more about the UNISG teaching programs and initiatives, visit exhibitions and participate in a whole range of other activities.
The Monday will be dedicated to the presentation of the “Pollenzo Manifesto” by the dean of the university and the teaching staff. There will also be talks and tastings and, in the evening, an open-air film show.
On the Tuesday the great French chef Michel Bras will be presented with an honorary degree, after which the Pollenzo Cookery School will be inaugurated.
On the Wednesday the university’s lecturers will present the UNISG’s distinctive research and collaboration projects. The day will again feature talks, tastings and films. Celebrations will come to an end on June 19 with a conference on the subject of food and festivity. In the afternoon a “Fruit Salad Disco” will serve up sustainable fare as an enjoyable way of fighting food waste. In the evening, finally, a special party will close the UNISG tenth anniversary celebrations with music, food, dancing and fun.
