Genuine Education Network and UNISG: A Partnership for Japanese-Italian Educational Activities

GEN (Genuine Education Network) is a company founded in 2014 by former UNISG students with the aim of promoting educational activities around food and the experience of the five senses. In particular, GEN is working to create connections, collaborations and good practice exchanges in food and education in Italy and Japan.

Given this educational mission, UNISG has established an agreement with GEN, which has been recognized as an official partner of the University of Gastronomic Sciences for educational activities in Japan.

Many initiatives have already been carried out jointly, starting with seminars held by Japanese experts and academics at the Pollenzo campus, collaboration on the organization of study trips for students around Japan and invitations extended to UNISG lecturers to hold conferences and lessons at Japanese universities, institutions and other organizations.

The next project in the works is the symposium Trend of food culture in the world, which will be held on Thursday February 23 in Tokyo’s Akasaka Garden City.

Organized by the Tsuji Culinary Institute with the support of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office, the Cool Japan project, UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy Tsuruoka and GEN Japan Co. LTD & Genuine Education Network S.r.l, the symposium will be attended by representatives from government agencies, local authorities, academic institutions, companies and the media.

A UNISG delegation, led by Professor Gabriella Morini and including a group of students on a study trip in Japan, will also be participating.

On December 2016, GEN (Genuine Education Network) organized a visit of Prof. of Ethnobotany Andrea Pieroni and some UNISG members at Toshi-Island. The visit was supported by Toba Chamber of Commerce and Industry & Jetro.  In the video Prof. Andrea Pieroni talks about the gastronomic heritage of Toba area and its touristic potential.
