On Thursday March 7, Pollenzo will celebrate students receiving their degrees and master degrees with a solemn ceremony attended by a number of special guests. Inaugurated in February 2012, the event is a commemoration of the communal life of the students of the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo, who have shared part of their lives together in this part of Piedmont.
The day will follow a special consolidated procedure, with students donning academic caps and tabarri, or tabards, the traditional black cloaks of the Langa district.
Theses will be discussed in the course of the morning in the Cascina Albertina complex, starting from 9am.
At about 4pm, the graduates will walk in procession to the parish church of San Vittore, where they will be met by the university teaching staff and a number of distinguished guests: actress Lella Costa, the mayor of Florence Matteo Renzi, singer-songwriter Gianmaria Testa and legal scholar Gustavo Zagrebelsky. Here the degree ceremony will be held and the new graduates proclaimed. After speeches from the guests, the day will conclude with a party.
Here is a list of the new graduates and their thesis titles:
