UNISG’s 2016-2017 Academic Year Inaugurated at Pollenzo on Monday February 20

At 10am on Monday February 20 the new 2016-2017 academic year at the University of Gastronomic Sciences will be inaugurated with a ceremony held in the Agenzia di Pollenzo’s Sala Rossa.

The guest of honor will be Domenico De Masi, professor emeritus in the sociology of work at Rome’s La Sapienza University.

Professor De Masi, an internationally renowned academic and expert, has dedicated his studies to the post-industrial society, new social subjects, emerging needs, employment, free time and “creative idleness” (a term he invented and the title of one of his best-known essays).

Particularly significant among his activities is his role as a communicator and educator in the fields of labor history, industrial and post-industrial systems, development, the world of work, business organization and human resources management.

His authority in these areas makes his presence at this key UNISG event particularly interesting and pertinent.

The morning will open with an address by the university’s dean, Professor Piercarlo Grimaldi, followed by some words from student representatives Federico Mattarelli and Bruno Morett Figueiredo Rosa.

Professor Domenico De Masi will then give the keynote lecture, entitled “A Simple Revolution.”

The event will close with a speech from Carlo Petrini, the president of UNISG.
